The lowers seem to be of decent quality, and for the price seem about right. However The Jig Is Not of an outstanding quality. What really annoyed me was the fact that it was supposed to be" everything you need to complete a lower" not including the 80% lower itself. It only came with the jig and four screws to secure it. If I were able to have a jig ship to me before the 31st has to complete my lowers and have my featureless rifles completed prior to the beginning of the new year that would be great. I however do not see that being a possibility anymore.

You can still build featureless rifles after the 31st. No rush on the router. Order a proper jig and have at it next year.

If you worked in a precision machine shop I think you can work with that jig. just take your time and have good bits. honestly that looks like every other jig out there but regardless its the tool and the patience of the person that has that tool in hand.

a CNC machine cuts many small passes at a time and a CNC machine is really a glorified router. albeit the method of securing on a CNC machine is far superior to a bench vice and the chucks in the CNC machine minimize vibration. If they suggest cutting a 1/16" at a time go down to a 1/32. it will take longer but I guarantee that in most cases it isn't the jig that is the problem but the impatient machinist.

This reads like an entrapment operation. Akin to "I'll buy your gun, but I can't use FFL" in the marketplace.

OP, what you suggest is illegal. Further, the "I'll buy from you and you'll buy it back" is the counterpart of a structured transaction in IRS world. So, you are a new member proposing illegal activity at the time when there is a hard deadline to get lowers. This raises a few red flags. (I'm not judging you, just pointing the facts. What you suggest shouldn't be illegal, but it is.)

With your username, it's also likely that there are a few other problems associated with what you're trying to do, some CA-specific and some federal. State law cannot protect you against federal law.

If you are indeed not an agent trying to trip people into illegal activity, I suggest you don't try to rent a mill or have someone do it for you.

Dangitt. Now that I read the thread, I see everyone else noticed that already. First thing I spotted!

              You guys crack me up..^^^^^

OP...there is no deadline for featureless. No hurry.

I've seen some really good 80% completed lowers done with a router.

You might consider buying another JIG from a different company. Search YOUTUBE for the good ones and watch how these lowers were completed.

Personally I am not a fan of a drill press for this job.

Any job done well will require a good JIG with proper tools and a no-hurry
              Attitude.

              Good luck

No, it's only illegal for an entity lacking a federal firearms license to receive compensation for tool use where historically "compensation" has included barter goods or services and cost sharing.

                ATF ruling 2015-1 states
Held further, a business (including an association or society) may not avoid the manufacturing license, marking, and recordkeeping requirements of the GCA by allowing persons to perform manufacturing processes on blanks or incomplete firearms (including frames or receivers) using machinery, tools, or equipment under its dominion and control where that business controls access to, and use of, such machinery, tools, or equipment.
An individual not receiving money or other compensation to use their tools is not a business.

I'd loan my 1 3/16-16 tap to any one local starting from 0% as a personal projects. Friends are welcome to complete set of 0% cutting tools but not strangers - end mills break too easily.

Without room and budget for large stationary tools I was paying for shop access, although ruling 2015-1 means that's no longer for guns.
