    UPS gun shipping policy?

What does UPS require for a gun owner to ship a gun into an out of State gun shop for alteration/repair. Assuming the gunshop is not a gunmaker manufacturer, but only a gun repair shop. Does the gun owner who is mailing the firearm need a copy of the gunshop's FFL license to show the UPS clerk when mailing?

Last time I had to ship a firearm ,only a copy of your state drivers license or ID was required.
    Keep it simple!

I've shipped plenty of guns to gunsmiths. For the most part, state it's going to an FFL holder, and off it goes. Once in a while you get a moron, and will have to ask for a higher up. Keep in mind you have to go to an actual UPS facility, UPS stores won't accept firearms.

Use FedEx. UPS doesn't know their own rules. Last time I tried to ship a gun to the manufacturer, they would not accept it.

Did you go to a UPS Store and not the actual UPS facility/hub? UPS Stores won't accept firearms. They are not really UPS-operated businesses. They are private franchises.

I went to the actual UPS facility. Even after telling them their own restrictions and showing them the manual from the gun listing the address of Kimber, they would not ship the gun.

If long gun usps cheapest or use shipmygun.com for handgun it is cheaper then ups or fedex and gunsmith can send direct to you when done.

Wow! I've shipped with UPS and although it took a bit of searching in the manual etc, they did it. Same with FedEx.

Which UPS facility did you go to? I went to the one in San Ramon off Norris Canyon.

Dang. Totally messed up. Probably ran into a self righteous anti gun zealot. What did you end up doing?

The FedEx facility I went to was the hub in Pacheco. Had to talk to a manager eventually, but they didn't give me any flack. They were making sure it was done right.
