I've been collecting M1911-A1 parts for the last few years hoping to assemble them to an "80%" frame from Tactical Machining.
With our move to Oregon my tool bench is still in storage waiting for our new house to be finished. So, I really didn't have the tools or work area to finish the frame.
Last month Palmetto State Armory had a blemished 1911 frame on sale for $99. I grabbed it up and threw all the parts together this week. Everything fit nicely, but I'm still trying to figure out how to stake the plunger tube without buying the $50 tool.
It all seems to work and cycle properly, but I don't want to bang away with it until I get the tube installed.
The top gun is the new "parts gun" and the bottom is a Springfield Armory 1911 that I've had for many years.

When I didn't know how the sear and disconnector fit together I took the SA apart to see.
And, it looks like I still have enough parts kicking around to assemble one more gun on the Tactical Machining frame.
