HK PSG-1 Clone

Hello,
I have a PSG-1 clone built off of a Century Arms C91 Sporter by Murray Urbach. I would like to bring it in the state. I had Murray install a RADD bullet button and a five round magazine. Is the rifle legal to enter the state in this config? I remember seeing a flow chart on here regarding if a rifle is banned by name or characteristic. I cant seem to find that flow chart now. I remember seeing and HK PSG-1 and HK91 are banned by name but I dont think the Century Arms clone is banned by its name. So I am assuming it is legal as long as the mag is fixed. Any info would greatly help. Thanks!!!

I believe you are correct, and the mag can be 10 rounds - unless you hunt or something.

I hope part of the conversion was not a restamp to HK PSG-1. There was a discussion somewhere here about restamping with a banned name being a bit controversial.

The guns is still stamped with Century Arms C91 Sporter and the serial number. Is that what you mean?

its not technically illegal but it could cause problems should the situation ever arise.

congrats on getting your rifle back from MR. Urbach, i couldent wait the 5 years he would have taken. so i built my own when your shooting federal gold match a fixed 10 rnd magazine really doesent bother me

Actually the gun arrives in two days. I hope he didn't restamp it. If he did how does that affect it legally being in Kalifornia? PSG-1 is on the list but technically its a Century Arms C91 which isnt on the list. Even though it is stamped PSG-1, doesnt the actual manufacture and model still have to be on the rifle?

its not illegal to restamp the gun.


it can just cause problems, IF someone were to question it.

IE a LEO thinks you have an unreg'ed assault weapon and even though your compliant (maglock) takes the gun into custody. it wont be until you get to an examiner that they will know that the firearm is not acutally a PSG-1 but thats alot of hassle up until that point.

now the other problem would be if you go to sell it. an FFL may see PSG-1 and not do the transfer because its on the banned by name list. and then you have to go through the trouble of explaining that its actually a century arms C91 sporter and not really a PSG-1, that again is a hastle.

bottom line if your keeping the rifle for some great amount of time and you keep it Cali compliant with a Bullet button. dont worry if its restamped

Is it really legal in California to restamp the model on a rifle? Like from "PTR91" to "PSG1" or from "SL8-6" to "G36K"? I know there are no Federal restrictions, but for California is it legal?

Where did you get your parts for your PSG-1? IE barrel, receiver rails, scope mount tabs? Your welds look really good. Did you have the Silent bolt closer (forward assist) installed? Any more pics?

Barrel is a Top notch parts one they were selling a little while back.
receiver rails are RDTS
scope tabes were made by an HKpro board member JFK

at this time i am currently makeing the forward assists and am starting on rails soon.

i did all the work on that rifle, as well as an MSG90 for a friend of mine. (pics below) my PSG-1 is currently torn apart because im going to completely redo it. with almost all my own parts.

i got most of the HK parts on various boards.
