Not how I read the article, although I know they used the word "firesale." It seemed like more of an attempt to cut prices to move volume in anticipation of demand. Turns out the demand was there, it just wasn't based on what they thought would precipitate it.

I don't mean it t be politically toxic I mean it to be a 2A issue that means you have more democrats learning to shoot and perhaps being more willing to stand up for gun causes. Maybe.

Younger people tend to be more Independent leaning and weary of either party. But Independent-leaning people generally are more pro-gun, while still being Democratic in many other political issues. It's the people who fall into that category who will most open to pro-gun legislature. Though I doubt many will disagree with universal background checks. But very few will agree to AWBs and constant background checks for ammo.
