Springfield 1911s

So Ive went and held but never shot either Pistol (Springfield TRP and Operator) I want a Railed 1911.
Does anyone have both that can comment on these Pistols and give some insight before I pull the Trigger and make a purchase.
I like them both but cant afford both.

I don't have both only the Operator. It's been 100% reliable with the included mags. It's insanely accurate. I have zero complaints, I love it. BTW I sent it to Springfields Custom Shop for a trigger job, front strap checkering, S&A one piece mag well, completely deburred and tuned for ultimate reliability, then refinished in all black. It all cost about $700 additional to the gun itself.

I also have 2 NHC's, 2 Les Baer's, 1 Wilson, and 1 Ed Brown. If I was looking to buy one I would recommend a Les Baer. You can get one for close to the price of a TRP and in my personal opinion it's a superior weapon.

Not the models you are asking about, but I have a "Loaded" from the later 90s before they called them "Loaded" and it just runs and runs. Its beat to hell from being my only handgun for 10 years. It had to fill all the roles, hunting, HD, backpacking and range. Now it's mainly a range gun. Point being it has never let me down. You can buy more expensive 1911s and they are good guns I am sure but my next one will also be a Springfield. Good luck

I think the only TRP on roster is the full rail, kinda hard to come by and heavy. The other one ( MC operator, green?) is more of their standard loaded line. The TRPs are supposed to be built better and might be a more accurate shooter. I have a standard loaded target and it's a great gun, but if someone wanted to trade for a TRP I'd do it.

I think Sig has some railed 1911s that are still on roster

Op wants a railed 1911. I don't think the half rail TRP is on roster.

If you're looking in the TRP price range, you should at least look at Dan Wesson. Most seem to prefer DW over the TRP. No bad choices here though.

I recently purchased a full rail TRP and cant say enough good things. This is not my post, but saw this and the price is REALLY good.

I had an Operator until summer this year. I sold it to a friend. It was well used when I got it. Shot great for me until the sear(?) started going out. It wouldn't cycle a new round on occasion. A buddy fixed it for me.

The friend I sold it to sent it to Springfield last month and they gave it a tune-up for free!

Loved that Operator. Felt rad, looked radder but in the end, I used the cash from it, the ammo and all the mags to buy 2 ARs.

Im looking to spend no more then 1700.00 All In.
I dont own any 1911's Yet as Most of mine are concealed carry (Glock, S&W and Sigs)
Ive held just about all available 1911 my local gun shops have and I really like them in 9mm..
Is this a Mistake ? Is .45 or 10mm the way to Go ?
I have all ammo in above calibers.

45. The TRP is heavy enough to handle the recoil and it shoots sooooo smooth.
