My CCW dissolved in the rain!

So my CCW was finally typed up and I went in to get it. What a joke, this thing feels like origami paper and I feel the need to make a crane or something. It didn't actually dissolve in the rain, but it just might. Guess what, I didn't feel the need to start shooting places up when I was carrying today, the masses didn't start running wild and the world didn't stop turning! Criminals beware! Any suggestions on keeping this thing in my wallet without shredding it up? I was thinking of putting it in a soft plastic trading card holder.

Maybe go to Kinko's and get it laminated?

I've been told by a CCW holder when I asked about laminating his, that they're told it's invalidated if you laminate it.

I would personally look at putting it inside a plastic container made from a pouch, then taping it or heating it shut. The permit'll be loose inside, but you're not getting in without cutting the plastic... thus protecting it and giving it most of the benefits of lamination without invalidating it by laminating the actual paper.

Upon issuance of my first license to carry I was instructed by the clerk in the Sheriffs Office to fold it in half and have it laminated.

I suppose this depends on the issuing agency and I am not aware of any legal prohibition to laminating your license.

If you can't get it laminated, put into a plastic sleeve of some sort

If you laminate it and find its a problem you can always peel the laminate off

Go to a baseball card collector shop and use either a soft or rigid clear plastic card protector.

Negative Ghostrider. That might be something a particular agency is doing. If you want the rice paper to survive you'll laminate it. I wish they would make them more ID card sized like Nevada's.

Just get a fishing license holder. Its thicker than laminate and has a zip lock on it.

I wish they were ID size. Even the DMV is able to print stuff on both sides of some durable plastic. As soon as I saw it, it reminded me of the receipts I give the tenants when they pay their rent. I don't really like the three gun restriction either, but that's just being greedy in CA. My VM II shipment should be arriving too!

San bernardino county laminates it before they mail it to you.

It's a pain in the butt. Folded in half, its too big to fit in a credit card sized slot in your wallet. I folded mine in half, trimmed the edges down as much as I could without losing any info., and used contact paper to "laminate" it myself. Then trimmed that down to the size of the paper and used scotch tape around the edge to seal it up.

You don't actually HAVE to carry it with you, although its highly recommended you do. Hence, the restriction on laminating it would be pretty dumb if you didn't have to have it with you.

                            Congrats, btw!

San Diego was the issuing authority for each of the (multiple) folks I've heard make this claim.

No arguments there. I've just heard frustration about a prohibition against lamination from multiple folks in this area...
