Crazy $#|+ I heard at the range today...

I start this thread with the understanding that the local range, LGS, LEO, and DOJ are not reliable sources of truth and knowledge when it comes to firearms.

I got to the range early this morning and had a chance to shoot the breeze with a couple of the "guys". In 15 minutes I heard the following:

1) The DOJ is going to require "featureless" semi-auto AR rifles to be registered as AWs. (I just happened to be setting up my 300 blk AR15 with an FRS-15 stock on it)

2) These two guys were in a local gun store doing a PPT of an AK Pistol. A DOJ agent just happened to be there at the time and arrested both the seller and the buyer.

3) If you CCW in San Francisco and get pulled over, they will take your carry piece and you won't be able to get it back until you IA contacts them and they ship it back to your IA.

While #1 is possible (a real long shot, but likely their long term wet dream) it's not likely, #2 and #3 I called straight up BS, but you cant really argue with the "guys" at the range.

Well, to be completely accurate, you can argue with the guys at the range. It's just that you're more likely to make headway arguing with the bench at the range.

Yeah, my brother's sister's cousin knows a guy that #3 happened to. He had to file a lawsuit with the Supreme Court to get it back, Chief Justice Robert's personally came and got the gun and hand delivered it to him.

Seriously that particular piece of FUD makes more rounds than just about any other, no matter how often it is proven to be completely false.

And some Rulers of California will flat out tell you the US Constitution doesn't mean anything in this state. And the majority of voters agree with that.

Well #3 hasn't happened to me and I've lived in SF for 2 decades (16 of that with a ccw). But what do I know.....some guys at the range said it, so it's got to be true.

but have you been pulled over while you carried?

i mean if you CCW all the time in SF, but did not have any contact with LEO, then it isn't the same as if you carried in SF, but had LEO interaction where you had to disclose your CCW.
