    rude pistol shooters

Went to my outdoor pistol range today and right off the bat this guy comes over to my friend and asked if the pistol he had was a FN 5.7. I said yes it is new and he wanted to try it out. This guy went on a tirade about why anybody would want a pistol that the ammo costs so much. We explained how he probably would not shoot it very often. He went on and on about buying such a gun.Very rude guy. This is not the first time another pistol shooter was very opinionated about how or what we shot.
By the way he professed the qualities of shooting 22lr . I was shooting my 22 revolver and like 22s a lot .
This never happens on the rifle range.
PS most of the pistol shooters are very polite and want you to try out what they are shooting. But it seems almost every time out on the pistol range their is one big mouth that cant mind their own business.

So why didn't you immediately put a stop to it with "Yes, it is kind of expensive, so much so that we really can't afford to let some random guy waste the ammo, have a nice day"

Sorry this happened. Not sure why people need to make your business their business. I get all kinds of comments with the Desert Eagle .50, which is around $1-1.50/rd. Usually they shut up when I let them try it or the muzzle blast quiets them down.

When I see guns (lots today as I'm sure you know!) that shoot expensive or obscure ammo no part of me needs to berate the owner.

I had a shooter from the adjoining lane tap me on the shoulder while I was shooting to ask me what pistol (45 shield) I was shooting.

He was a nice enough fellow, but while I am shooting?

He later asked me to look at his pistol that had a malfunctioning safety...

Most shooters are respectful and inquisitive.

The guy on the other side was emptying multiple high-cap mags through his G17 as fast as he could shoot and reload them. The RO's simply ignored has rapid fire...

There will always be people like that. I don't know about nowadays, but I was raised with the dictum, "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all." For the most part, I stick to that.

I have a Tac Vest with a big POLICE patch on the back that I set out next to my range bag. I tell my friends it's "Range Know it all" repellent...

GlockN'Roll - As far as people shooting quickly from STANDARD Cap Mags, as long as he's doing it safely - Why would that need R.O. intervention??

Should have said "only cost a lot to those on entitlements"
Bet he wouldn't say anything else to you for the rest of the time you where shooting

With one exception I have never been asked (at the range) by someone if they can shoot my gun. It always goes this way.

Other shooter: "wow, hats looks nice, what is it?"
Me: "oh it's an xxx..." (cont)

                          Scenario 1
Other shooter: "I've heard those overpriced and the ammo is really expensive. Why would anyone buy that gun?"
Me: "hey, remember that time I asked for your unsolicited opinion...yeah, neither do I! Buh-bye"

                          Scenario 2
                          Other shooter: "that's cool"
                          Me: "want to try it?"
Other shooter: "you bet!"...pew, pew, pew..."nice gun, wanna try my model xxx?"
                          Me: "sure"

The only time someone has asked if they could try one of my guns was actually a range patron with whom I had a nodding/seen you here before acquaintance with, and he was asking for a friend from another country. I let them both shoot and they were suitable impressed.

Unsoliticed opinions and negativity don't sit well with me, and get an immediate negative response.

Besides, I've seen decent 5.7 ammo for less than .50 a round.
                          Sorry, not sorry.

                              I have a FN57 myself.
Never had anyone be rude about owning it or the cost of ammo. I have had several want one after shooting it and a couple go out and get one themselves. I have never had anyone shoot it that did not like it. Several have commented on ammo cost but that was all. Beside I buy ammo in 1000-2000 round lots and get a good price.

My answer for the high cost of ammo for any firearm would be yes but I can afford it and I enjoy shooting it so no big deal. If they were rude I might add I never asked you to buy it for me. Let them price some of my Weatherby or 50BMG ammo if they want high costs.

I often have firearms that get others attention---so I am use to it. They are not AK/AR15 and such. Just take out of the gun case a 50BMG/M1A/Garand/Enfield #5 Jungle Carbine/Swiss K31/Encore pistol in rifle cartridges chambered or one of many others and people start looking and asking questions.
Most are polite but if not I can run them off pretty quickly.
