Correct, still not legal to go pistol-rifle-pistol in CA despite Feds now saying it is OK.
Once pistol to rifle, always a rifle in CA from then on.

taking legal advice which can greatly effect the rest of your life from an unknown source who tells you to ignore the guy telling you to seek actual legal council, only on calguns does this stuff fly.

I told him to investigate using a lawyer, not some guy on the net.

that is not over reacting that is the proper and legal thing to do since it now appears you have no freaking clue what you are talking about.

            a quote from the BATFE...
I own two Contenders in TN- it is seriously one of my all time favorites and if I was not married I would have ten or more of them- and I go from pistol to rifle and back all the time and its a non-issue. Only in the truly screwed up land of Commifornia is this even a question.

Google first gen T/C's on the older models don't worry about barrel switching.

Thanks, dieselpower. I did read all that. That section deals with switching from rifle to pistol and back, or assembling a rifle from a frame sold as a pistol, or from a kit designed to be converted back and forth, etc. The firearm we have here is a pistol, no shoulder stock, not designed to be fired from the shoulder, and not one of T/C's kits. I can't find anything to indicate that standard pistol-type T/Cs are not otherwise legal in California.

Your original post did get me looking, though. And I appreciate that.

Yep. Being a shooter in Ca sucks.

yeah researching and paying a lawyer is way better than asking the guy in the mirror if its ok or just taking some guys word for it on the net.

Beautiful example of early TC. Grip and forearm appear stock to me, the forearm just pops off. Barrels go for about $300 a piece; frame goes for $350 - $500. The frame only takes old style flat-lug barrels.

ATF has already answered question about legality a long time ago.

What you got? Any barrels? Thinking of adding a 22cal to the mix. Bee Hornet ect.

                                Read the whole thing here:

                                https://www.atf.gov/file/55526/download
ok, lets discuss this as I not only posted that same link, I also quoted the ATF's opinion on it, not just the courts, and FTR the court's opinion isnt that all is cool and good with these firearms as many of you say it is, same as the ATFs.

                                people need to read the entire document especially this part;
                                .
Do you know how this was originally bought and are you confirming to both the seller and buyer of this condition?
