    Selling Powder and Ammunition

I was wondering what the legalities were (if any) for selling powder and ammunition (new-not reloaded) to another person as a private transaction.

Not sure where you are, but San Diego requires some kind of powder registration on sales. But that probably doesn't apply to private sales.

Loaded ammunition, however, should be good to go as long as you aren't dealing with anything exotic - ie AP, tracer, etc. Regular, normal ammo... no problem.

It was funny when I purchased some powder at the Del Mar gun show when they asked me to fill out the Sheriff Dept powder sales form. That bothered me, especially when I can mail order it no problem.

The main thing is that I have too much powder and not enough time to load it all up. I would rather sell it to someone else than have it sit around.

The ammo is regular 9mm Winchester that I bought WAY too much of and it's the same thing, it's taking up space and I do not have time to shoot it.

Always order via mail when it comes to powder and components. Anyone who has you fill out government paperwork to buy reloading supplies is someone you should not be doing business with, no matter how much of a deal they are offering you. The sheriffs dept does not need to know anything about privately owned anything.

As for having to much 9mm ammo, you can never have to much ammo. If you need to get rid of any of it, go shoot it and get some practice.

Oh, it certainly was a one time deal at the gun show. I won't buy there again as the price was not any better than buying onlline.

I will not have my private purchases monitored (of course except for the grocery store club card, any credit card and customer profiles on any website and so on.)

Privacy is like the 2nd ammendment, it is being encroached and infringed everyday.

(As far as the 9mm ammo goes, I shoot enough at work and (trust me) I have some rounds that could go to a better home.
