    Selling "high cap mags"

Don't know if this is the right place for this, I want to sell my 15 rd. Glock mags I purchased back in the 90's. Is it legal to sell to LEO? They the only one's who can legally buy them?

if you still have the pistol buy a block for them and keep using the mag. they usually work better than an aftermarket ten rounder.

Block them to 10, sell to a Peace Officer, or sell out of state.

I'm going to block mine cheaper than buying unreliable new ones. The mere act of offering them for sale violates CA law.

You are in possession of an item that is illegal to own. And you want to sell to a LEO ?
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

That's why I was asking. I thought I read somewhere that you can legally sell them to LEO only. When I originally bought them they weren't illegal.

I believe Penal code 32405 does permit the sale of a large-capacity magazine to a sworn peace officer.

I think you are right to be cautious with this though and it might be worth your time to confirm things with someone who has actual legal training.

                  I don't think he's ignorant, just didn't read "owned since 1990's".

                    Currently...

It is illegal to advertise them for sale, keep them for sale, and sell them while in CA. [PC 32310(a)]

It is legal to sell them to a LEO [PC 32405].
^ But, still illegal to advertise them for sale to LEOs and to keep them for sale to LEOs.

                    Penal Code 32310
                    (a) Except as provided in Article 2 (commencing with Section 32400) of this chapter and in Chapter 1 (commencing with Section 17700) of Division 2 of Title 2, any person in this state who manufactures or causes to be manufactured, imports into the state, keeps for sale, or offers or exposes for sale, or who gives, lends, buys, or receives any large-capacity magazine is punishable by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding one year or imprisonment pursuant to subdivision (h) of Section 1170.
                    (b) For purposes of this section, “manufacturing” includes both fabricating a magazine and assembling a magazine from a combination of parts, including, but not limited to, the body, spring, follower, and floor plate or end plate, to be a fully functioning large-capacity magazine.
                    (c) Except as provided in Article 2 (commencing with Section 32400) of this chapter and in Chapter 1 (commencing with Section 17700) of Division 2 of Title 2, commencing July 1, 2017, any person in this state who possesses any large-capacity magazine, regardless of the date the magazine was acquired, is guilty of an infraction punishable by a fine not to exceed one hundred dollars ($100) per large-capacity magazine, or is guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed one hundred dollars ($100) per large-capacity magazine, by imprisonment in a county jail not to exceed one year, or by both that fine and imprisonment.
                    (d) Any person who may not lawfully possess a large-capacity magazine commencing July 1, 2017 shall, prior to July 1, 2017:
                    (1) Remove the large-capacity magazine from the state;
                    (2) Sell the large-capacity magazine to a licensed firearms dealer; or
                    (3) Surrender the large-capacity magazine to a law enforcement agency for destruction.

                    Penal Code 32405
Section 32310 does not apply to the sale to, lending to, transfer to, purchase by, receipt of, possession of, or importation into this state of, a large-capacity magazine by a sworn peace officer, as defined in Chapter 4.5 (commencing with Section 830) of Title 3 of Part 2, or sworn federal law enforcement officer, who is authorized to carry a firearm in the course and scope of that officer’s duties.

You can always surrender the mags for free.

Try to convert it to a 10 rounder, and try sell it to a LEO and see what happens next.

One big hint, they're not your friend.

Take them out of state and then sell them.

Seems like a lot of trouble to sell a mag LE can legally buy new for probably $30 or less.
