    Featureless or AR Maglock

    Hello there fellow calgunners!

    I'm doing these setup (one of each) for two of my ARs and got me thinking, is there any other way to avoid registration..?

    These are the only two options that we have correct?
    Or is there other configuration that I've missed?

    And just for some people that don't know:

    Featureless = no evil features
    AR Maglock = you can keep the evil features

    Any info would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Fixed magazine - Franklin Armory DFM or a method of your own (I have a couple of methods that can be done rather easily with common handtools).

    Keep all your features.

      Featureless for me. I just don't like the notion of wearing something out like a takedown pin going on me, and the fact that I have to topload the damn bullets into the magazine.

      I rather just pin my stock and put a damn kydex wrap on my grip and call it a day.

        How many you got? To me the best solution is register a couple, fit a couple with DFMs and build a couple as featureless. That way, no matter what happens, you're covered.

        Edit: although the AR Maglock looks to be a pretty good option too. I like the DFM for rifles that are going to be shot very little, essentially they will be in storage.

          I almost forgot about the DFM, but I imagine it will be too much hassle loading that mag let say about 500 rounds.
          At least with ar maglock you can actually "remove/replace" the magazine.
          But like you said, for a rifle that will not be shot a lot DFM is a very good option.

            Yes, I believe we are on the same page. Personally I registered a RAW in '99 and haven't had any issues at all. AR lowers were down to around $45 each a few years ago, so registering a couple isn't that big of a risk in my mind. Of course, you'd want you have many options so if I only had one or two rifles I wouldn't register. I'd find another way to comply. I may set one up with an extended take down pin, and the AR Maglock for the kids to shoot, since a RAW is a no go for them.
