What Optics Are You Guys Running On Your Scars?

Looking for ideas but leaning towards the the Elcan 1-4x or the NF 2.5-10x24.

    Thanks!

Check out fnforums this question is asked there daily, tons of great info!

I have a nightforce 2.5-10x32 and it is fantastic, I can't say enough good things about it. Only negative is the weight so on occasion I put my aimpoint micro t2 on it and have fun but it is nowhere near as nice as the magnification from the nightforce.

It depends on how you plan to use the rifle.

Shorter distances, like point blank to 300 yards, one can make use of a quality lower powered optic, like a 1x4, 1x6 and the 1x8.

For longer distances, maybe a more powerful scope like 2x10, 3x9 or so.

Although the rifle is accurate to longer distances, I read that a lot of SCAR owners like to keep the optic light and on the lower power side so as not to take away from the rifles intended purpose of being a light, fast battle rifle.

I recommend a quality optic with a lifetime guarantee for the SCAR 17. Depending on the amount of use the 17 sees, you may need to service the scope at some time.

From what I’ve read, and I have no way to confirm this, others may chime in, the 17 can be hard on optics. Something about the powerful force from the bolt slamming home creates a backwards motion impulse to the scope that can be damaging to some cheaper optics, more so than other 7.62 / .308 auto loaders.

If it were my SCAR 17, I’d go with a quality 1X6.
