So I was just thinking what the outcome would be on this after next year. Would it be possible to register a handgun as an AW with a Threaded barrel, then attach a faux suppressor non-permanently? It would be merely for aesthetics of course but would be pretty cool to own in kommifornia I'm thinking... what are CG's thoughts? Imagine the look on locals faces before they see/hear it fired. The firearm in particular would likely be an hk usp.

In the Handgun section there was a thread that mentioned something similar. You cannot just add the threaded barrel though without modifying the mag release first, otherwise you would be creating an AW.
I suppose the steps would be to modify the mag release so you need a tool to release the mag, then add the threaded barrel, then register as an AW next year. After registered, presumably you could change back to a regular mag release. Not much you can do in CA though with a threaded barrel, maybe add a comp or something. Seems like a lot of work for a faux suppressor.Comment

True, to be more exact
A semiautomatic pistol that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following:
A threaded barrel, capable of accepting a flash suppressor, forward handgrip, or silencer.
(B) A second handgrip.
A shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the barrel that allows the bearer to fire the weapon without burning his or her hand, except a slide that encloses the barrel.
The capacity to accept a detachable magazine at some location outside of the pistol grip.
A semiautomatic pistol with a fixed magazine that has the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds.LIVE FREE OR DIE!

Man, if you AW'd your pistol, you should also attach a VFG to the light rail
