    Springfield EMP vs Comparable

I finally got my grips on the EMP and it sure was nice to hold and caress however the price. With a 1000-1400 price tag that's way to steep for me.

In your guy's opinion, what is a comparable gun to have? What would be similar to feel and weight, size, and just plain feel? Yes, this is subjective and that's fine. I just want to know the thoughts of others.

1st off, what's going to be the primary use ? this may help some to answer this Q.

Second SA 25yr warranty is absolutely awesome, & works perfectly.

EMP is an awesome little pistol. My wife has one and everybody who shoots it loves it. It is a dedicated 9mm frame so it is a touch smaller in the grip which makes for an excellent feel compared to other 9mm 1911's.

It does take a special plastic clip to retain the recoil spring for field strip. Works fine and takedown is easy but I know at some point I will lose the clip.

Price is really the only negative.

I was thinking about it, but people were asking for a premium even on used EMP. So, I bought Kahr MK9 used and Sig P238 and actually saved money!

          This.

If it's a carry gun, than money shouldn't be an issue unless your life isn't worth $1400.

              Here is my 2 cents
The EMP is tight and will have to shoot 300-500 rounds before you can run cheap remanufactured range ammo through it.But this thing shoots soooo good

The unit is Awsome and SA warenty program is top tier let's face it they have there Stuff together

You don't really need the plastic clip to disassemble it I never use it.It will take a bit of fnagaling with out the clip but totally doable

I really don't think much compares to the EMP when your talking size shootabilty and warenty.

You can finde them for around $1050.00 if you look around. Anything 1911 will cost you that north of a thousand bucks these days

Primary use would be for my CCW. Secondly the price is very steep. Yes I know that if my life depends on it money shouldnt be an option. However if you don't have the money......you make due.

I did take a look at the Sig P238 and I'll be going to the rental range and checking this one out.

                  Thank you!

EMP is one of my favorites and is the only 1911 that I've bought and not re sold at some point. Currently on my permit with my DW Guardian 9mm and Les Baer Custom Carry.

why not a brick instead? No need for 10 day wait, and it is about the same shape

I just got one myself. I tried may others but nothing felt as right in my hands. The cost is because extra attention went into building it to be so flipping good. Buy cheap and get cheap(and maybe OK) or pay the money and get close to perfection.
You also get 3 mags with it as well as a useable holster and mag carrier.
Mine will be a carry pistol replacing a bulker pistol. My Kimber costs more and comes with only 1 mag and nothing else.

It may cost more but well worth it.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

EMP is my every day carry. In a comparable size and 1911, assuming you are stuck to on roster choices, I can't think of anything that isn't a .45. And those are miserable to shoot out of a 3in barrel. I will say my colt defender was a little more accurate, or maybe I'm just better with a .45, but the amount of pain I'd feel after a few mags made it difficult to actually train with. EMP comes with night sights, 9mm, and shoots better than anything I can think of. Price should not be a concern for CCW. Get the best you can afford.
