    Mag Release vs Bullet Button on Featureless semiauto

    If I convert my AR15 THAT I PURCHASED PRIOR TO JAN 2017 TO A FEATURELESS RIFLE DO I INSTALL A MAG RELEASE OR CONTINUE WITH THE "BULLET BUTTON". PLEASE CITE THE LAW/S GOVERNING YOUR REPLY. THANX.

    Standard mag release. Unless you want a funky "assault rifle" for some reason.

      Bullet buttons are used to avoid AW status. Featureless firearms are not AW's.

      Of course next year bullet button can not be used to avoid AW status.

        You are about 4 years out of date; the PC was renumbered for 2012.

        See http://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/fa...r=2.&article=1., PC 30510 and PC 30515 and SB 880 for the 2016 amendments that take effect in 2017.

        Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

          few options:
          1) remove BB and make gun featureless
          2) keep evil features and register as AW
          3) sell the gun

              mag release, BB, bayonet lug, the tooth fairy, what do all these have in common?

              answer--- they dont make an AR15 an assault weapon

              as of 2017, an Assault Weapon (rifle) is one without a fixed magazine and any of the following;
              1- Pistol grip
              2- Flash Hider
              3- Telescoping / thumbhole stock
              4- Launcher
              5- Forward grip

              ------------------------------------------------------
              ------------------------------------------------------
              ------------------------------------------------------
              that means;

              If you have a normal magazine release (detachable magazine), you cannot have a feature or otherwise known as;
              1- Pistol grip
              2- Flash Hider
              3- Telescoping / thumbhole stock
              4- Launcher
              5- Forward grip
              this is called Featureless.

              --------------------------------------------------------------
              --------------------------------------------------------------
              --------------------------------------------------------------

              If you have a Fixed Magazine, (one that is contained in, or permanently attached to, a firearm in such a manner that the device cannot be removed without disassembly of the firearm action.)

              you can have all features which are;
              1- Pistol grip
              2- Flash Hider
              3- Telescoping / thumbhole stock
              4- Launcher
              5- Forward grip

              You may NOT have a magazine greater than 10 and this is a Fixed Magazine rifle.

              ------------------------------------------------------------------
              ------------------------------------------------------------------
              ------------------------------------------------------------------

              If your AR15, currently has a Bullet Button or other Magazine Lock, as of 1/1/2017, it has a Detachable magazine, not a Fixed magazine.

              so you need to remove all the Features, and continue to use a tool to remove the magazine (retarded)
              or
              Remove the Bullet Button or Magazine Lock and also all the Features (featureless)
              or
              Figure a way to make that Detachable Magazine into a Fixed Magazine as per the law
              or
              You can Register the Rifle as an Assault Weapon
              or
              Remove the rifle from the State of California or destroy it.

                Keep the Button. I saw on TV it lets your rifle go full auto...

                      The law doesn't support that but who knows what DOJ will say.
