My buddy asked me about this and said to bolt to floor but his complex doesnt allow such things

How do you guys in apartments bolt your safes?

Walls are much easier to repair, why don't you friend bolt the safe to the wall instead?

the same way it would have been mounted to the floor....and get a SimpliSafe alarm system....you can take it with you when you move.

I would guess it's no different than hanging a heavy shelf or picture frame on the wall? I would think the safe would be lighter than both of those because the safe would be supported by the floor as well...

Just do it! Guns are worth more than a carpet replacement and if he doesn't cut the carpet and make too big of holes, they probably wont even know.

More than Likely he is going to lose half or all his deposit on the Apartment anyways..Just because They Can for No Reason at all.
Tell him to get an Alarm.
A Safe is just Buying time as no safe is 100% bolted down or just placed there.
