Turners Outdoor -Something Fishy?

Please give an opinion; thinking about filing a complaint with state DOJ
Have a questions for anyone who knows anything about California Gun purchasing laws... 11 days ago we purchased 2 pink Ruger 10/22 rifles from Turners' Outdoor store in Victorville. We paid for both guns in full and the DROS fee. They cleared the 10 day waiting period. Last night husband went to pick up both guns and store clerk advised him only one gun was available, because they sold the 2nd gun to someone else. Manager was inconsiderate and told my husband their was nothing he could and would not offer any solution but give our money back for the one gun. My question is how could they register a gun that was sold to us 1st? No other one like that available and now we have to pay additional DROS fee for another purchase. I am also worried if something fishy is going on here or is the gun registered in my husband's name now.

There is a form to determine what guns are in your names if that becomes necessary.

Something is screwy.

This is not the first time Turners has done this. Improper handling and labeling of "Sold" guns in the safe. Untrained staff who really can't think.

They made a big mistake and can't even muster up a Solution.

You should have a copy of the DROS "Pending" sheet that you got at time of purchase plus a Turner's receipt. I would contact the manger, not assistant manager or senior counterman/clerk, but THE store manger, and get his name, too. Tell him you're going to contact Cal DOJ about this business unless they get it straightened out immediately. Frankly, I'm surprised that the DOJ software did not catch the situation when they entered the same serial number the second time for a different purchaser, sounds really odd. Good luck.

Doesn't Turners use serial numbers from their warehouse and not physically in the store?

I'm guessing this is part of their problem. I've been in their store when this happened to another person.

I waited 4 months for a special order gun from Turners, ordered before Sandy Hook...I used to go in a couple times a week to check and see if it had arrived. One day I went in and saw a gun like the one I'd ordered in the display case. I ask the guy if that's my gun. he says nope, it's not. I couldn't believe they'd have a display model, and not mine...I said let me look at it, and sure as hell...it was mine. If I hadn't asked and pushed for an answer, I'm sure they'd have sold it to someone else

There is no validation on the DROS form for serial number. You can enter jibberish and it will accept, unlike handgun model number, that gives you a pull down list of Roster guns based on the manufacturer you select. Since 19 stores pull from one warehouse, I'm not surprised mix ups happen from time to time.

That said, talk to the manager and ask him to pay your DROS fee when another pink 10/22 comes in. I would be surprised if they don't agree to that.

for all of the business they're doing now, they should have no problem compensating customers for store mistakes..

What happen is they sold a rifle exactly like yours prior to You running your Dros.
They used the serial number of the matching rifle to run your Dros. The Buyer before you picked up his rifle at which time they corrected the serial numbers. They probably didnt have a extra rifle at the time You purchased so planned on ordering from a distibutor Prior to Your pick Up time. But they Didnt so Instead of correcting this it was easier to Brush You Off, then make it Right.

I was there last Sunday to buy a Tavor x95 and it was a mad house. A gentleman I happen to strike up a conversation was there to re dros a Kris's vector for the 3rd time because they had sold both of them after he had already done the dros TWICE! Needless to say he wasn't happy. In my case they had "sold out" of all the x95 and where not going to have anymore or order anymore. When I asked if any other stores had them he said no sorry bye and walked away. I stepped outside and called the Temecula store and they had one in the store and not the warehouse. I said F **k them and took my business to RIFLEGEAR.
