How does a museum legally receive firearms in CA?

How does a bona fide museum legally receive (accession) firearms in CA? To what entity is a firearm transferred to when a piece is given to or purchased by a museum?

Are they transferred to the museum's legal entity, in this case an LLC?

Can firearms be legally transferred to a museum in CA which are not legally transferable to (non-dealer) individuals in the state?

Not sure about commiefornia, but I think most museums are exempt. Even as recent as last year there was a WWII [bring back] machine gun found in the attic of deceased veteran that was never registered with ATF. Options were destruction or transfer to a museum. I think it ended up with the NRA museum.

Museums have C&R FFL's So it goes to them, and they list it in their collection, just like any other collector.

So FFLs are issued to LLCs? A great many collectors don't have C&R FFLs so I wonder how that would work for a legal entity like a non-profit LLC?
