    Gun shooting

It seems as tho here no one shoots their guns lol. Almost every gun in the marketplace is either NIB or less than 300 rounds. Why do people go through the hassle of buying and 10 day wait just for it to sit in a box and never shoot?

      Gun shooting

Time.... too busy paying off the guns lol. Plus I'm only free on weekends and the last place I want to be is at a crowded range. Prefer going on my "sick days" during the week when the range is empty.

Maybe people sell the ones they don't end up shooting much? I have a few I run 300+ rounds a week through, the rest sort of sit and wait a lot.

I have some I shoot lot and most that are very occasional.

They probably own too many guns.

I used to shoot 3 guns twice a week, so about 300 rounds/wk, about 15,000 per year.
Then down to once a week, and now, old and tired, once a month to "keep in shape"

Sometimes, you simply buy something because you can.

I bought a Colt Lightweight Officer 1911 from my colleague, it is an off-roster handgun so when he offered it for sale I grabbed it. I don't shoot pistols much and that Colt sits mostly unused. I take it out a couple of times a year and put maybe 10 rounds through it each time.

I see you're a noobie- Calgunners have so many guns they just can't get to them all.

If you go shooting every week and take a different gun each time, it'll be 6 years until that gun makes it back through the rotation.

I've met and spoke with many a custom gun builder. Asked why i don't see a lot of certain custom guns at matches and am told by them that there are a LOT of folks who buy them as trophy pieces and never shoot them. Now those are just the custom smiths i've spoken to. Take that and multiply it by the general public who can simply walk into a shop and buy anything they want to show off to friends.

Means there are a lot of unfired guns sitting in closets out there.

Cars had odometers that were easy to roll back... so dealers, shady dealers rolled them back....

I have seen Glocks with 200 rounds "down the pipe"
Where the breech face was dented, and the finish removed from 12k plus rounds down range....

I sold off a bunch(about 30) a few years back. They were C&R rifles and some I had never shot. I had as many as 5-6 of each one. Just never got around to shooting them and wanted to hunt Africa.
I also sold a BP Ruger SS old Army which I got in the 70's(I think) new and only fired 12 times taking a couple of small game animals.
I still have firearms that I have never fired and have owned for years. So that I have only fired a couple of rounds to be sure they function and others that have not fired in 8-10+ years. They are not for sale but not everyone can shoot all they own even each month. I am usually at the range at least 2-3 times a month. I am often doing Chrono work or sighting in firearms for friends.

Not everyone only owns a couple or a few firearms.

Then there are also those that sell and do not tell the complete truth
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

I have had a S&W 327 TRR8 for almost a month now that I've still not even got AMMO for. In the meantime I've run close to 1000 rnds through my more frequent range guns, and it's been a really slow month.
