Nothing to worry about, as long as your gun is functioning, carry on.

One of my guns does this and I believe it is an effect of being overgassed, however "overgassed" is blown out of proportion. (hehe)

Don't worry about it until you can see the bcg.

Ok sounds good that is kinda what i was thinking. Maybe im just over gassing this whole thing " blowing out of proportion" no pun intended lol. So i will keep on shooting because it runs thru ammo great no issues their.

If I saw that on one of mine, I would not be concerned at all. Rifle is functioning correctly and can be depended on.

I've got a BCM 11.5 inch on my AR pistol. It does the same to the deflector. I thought it was overgassed, but I think it could be something else since it won't reliably cycle the cheaper (lower power) 223 rounds, it's flawless with any 556 or higher end 223.

Shouldn't be a problem. If you want, you can cover it up with a sharpie or some of that aluma-blue or there is a pen type thing you can get made for blackening exposed aluminum on guns that works nicely.

3rd_gear That is Interesting to know another BCM upper is having similar things happen to it! I was shooting the federal ar556 ammo when this happened. I got ahold of bravo company and am waiting on their answer. They requested a picture so when i get the info back from them ill post a response in my thread as to what they had to say about it.

Yeh i thought about covering it, defiantly would be nice to keep my brand new upper in good shape for at least 1000 rounds haha. But i guess i am mainly concerned with the rounds chewing up the metal on the deflector.

That's like worrying about your brake pads chewing up your rotors.

You're doing fine, don't worry, keep shooting and practicing those fundamentals, and have fun.

This. However, you'll soon learn to like the look of a real used gun and it wont bother you anymore.
