    Question about transfer-ship

My Grandfather died and left me all his firearms I don't really know what is in the gun safe yet as grandma has not let anyone in her house since his death. But I know that there are a lot of firearms in there, as he was an avid collector starting in the 60's. I just found out that they where never married.

My Question is, what is the correct paperwork to fill out so I can get them transferred over to me?

Sorry for the story, and thanks in advanced.

You need a document showing he left the guns to you.

You need an FSC - Firearms Safety Certificate.

Then, because grandparent/grandchild is a CA 'immediate family' relationship, you go get the guns; this is true for interstate as well - Feds exempt inheritance and CA exempts immediate family inheritance from using an FFL.

Sort through them; you may not inherit an 'assault weapon' within CA, nor bring one in from out of state. You may not bring in NFA weapons without a permit from CA, which is unobtanium for most people.

After you have done all that, file an OPLAW form or use the on-line forms thing, and submit the information on all the guns, with just one $19 for all of them.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!
