    Firearms transport on Motorcycle

I am going on a long adventure with 3 rifles and a handful of pistols along with 11 others on bikes with about the same amount of equipment.

We are transporting pistols and rifles on motorcycles. I can put the pistols in bags but the long guns? They are going to be in soft bags and one or two sticking out of my back pack.

We will look like a well armed mini Army going down the road.

So the question is: What will be the best way to transport our firearms to not stir up the local LE or other?

    Lag wagon.

Or just be prepared to be pulled over in every single jurisdiction you pass through.

Not sure if this is a serious thread or what.

11 guy with 60-80 firearms, on motorcycles, (probably several 1000 rnds of ammo you didn't mention) some with rifles sticking out of backpacks, on a long trip, and thinking of way to not attract LE. Probably not possible.

If you're serious, you need someone with a truck to go along with a way to keep them all locked in enclosed containers.

Over the last several years I've done PPT's all over SoCal from San Diego to Thousand Oaks and Orange to Pasadena.

Usually when I travel more than thirty miles from home (Riverside), I bike it to save time in traffic (lane split) and save fuel.

I've got a set of Nelson-Rigg soft bags, and I strap a 36" rifle bag across the top with only a couple inches hanging off each end with no problem. Doesn't really attract attention at all unless I'm parked. Rifle lengths of over 36" are difficult without a scabbard. I can't imagine carrying tree rifles on a bike in traffic. If they were AR's you could always break them down.

If you're talking about a large Adventure bike, it might be a bit more challenging, but if you're doing a dual-sport bike, I'd say just forget it.

Handguns and 500 rds ammo would be no problem, a carbine or two are do-able, but any more than that will require a follow vehicle.

A "long ride"? How could you carry all the guns/gear/ammo and clothes all at one time anyway?

That's about the only way that I can see it happening with that amount of mass. Don't know how much experience you have with motorcycling with a bunch of weight and/or bulk onboard, but it's not a casual problem.

Yes, this is a very serious trip. Were all Vets, we all ride Adventure Bikes and one off road Can-Am. It's possible that a sidecar and 2 others might be joining us as of the this morning. Most of us have been riding since we were teens and many of us are all weather riders.
We buy ammo as needed along the way to save weight.
To clarify: All rifles will be in proper rifle bags.
Some of them will break down.

This is the Test ride of the First Annual Veteran 1000 mile Shot Bike Ride.
(were still thinking of the right name)

We were looking for serious ideas, suggestions & thoughts from this group.
Thank you to whom gave positive comments.

We would like to know if any laws are on the books for transporting firearms on motorcycles in CA or other states.

Across state lines all must be in locked cases. In gfsz sll must be locked anyway. That means even on interste passing within 1000 feet of school.

A locked soft case will be ok? Dose not need to be a hard case?
