    Help with Gun Value

My Buddy is considering selling 2 of his pistols. I'm telling him not to, but he's leaning strongly to selling.
Anyways, the two guns are a Walther PPK/S .22lr 120,000 range serial number, and .45 Colt Commander 70SC74xxx serial number.

    Check in one of these?

Thanks! I'll check the library, Borders, etc... tomorrow. I gave my Buddy $500 to chill out and hold onto his guns. The damn Colt and PPK came from his Dad, who passed away when he was in High School. If the roles were reversed, those pieces would never leave my possession while I'm alive.

Is the 22 PPk/S a made in West Germany - I think that's the rollmark up front, yes? Looks to be in great shape, my 6 or so year old blue book says $750.00 in 100%.

Yes, it is a W.German PPK/S and it would be 100% if my Buddy can find the original grips. When I checked them out this afternoon the grips looked aftermarket. Overall though, the gun is in perfect condition and has logged less that 900rds since 1977.
We were looking at his Dad's gun log and he listed every range day and number of rounds fired.

I inherited a bunch of Glocks and while I completely despise those square blocks of plastic they still sit in the safe. Half of them will go to my brother when he comes of age. I'll never get rid of them, even if I never shoot them.

              There's currently a Walther PPK/S .22LR on consignment at Turners for $2100! http://www.turners.com/shop/gundetail.php?id=5941

you could also check the ended sales on the online auctions to help you figure out a price although gun prices in California seem to always be higher than most other states.

Those are both fairly rare and desirable. But, for me, they would be priceless if inherited from dad...

Um, that would be the same Turners selling Mosin Nagants at $200?

Yes, but they are consignment guns. Customer sets the price. The higher the gun sells for, the higher % commission Turners gets. It's not in Turners interest to tell the customer to sell M91/30 for $90 to be in line with Big 5. You know the seller originally bought it from Big 5.

Don't waste your time with books. Both of those guns are worth a minimum of $1000 Nationwide. Just check Auction Arms and Gunbroker for sold items to get a feel for the minimum price. In California where they can only be purchased from another California resident, these pistols carry a huge premium. I would suggest $1500ea if they are as clean as you say, and maybe a bit more for the 22 PPK/S.
