My latest screw up

Putting the sight blocks on my 40X. I put down my Magna tip screwdriver and hear a little click. Don't pay much attention to it. Then I try and put a screwdriver bit onto the handle.

Just barely big enough to fit in there. Fit too snug to use tweezers. Magnet kept it in there pretty well. Ended up pushing a piece of dental floss around the head and yanked it out.

Never seen that before, good job! If you didn't get it out I was going to suggest using a more powerful magnet than the one in the driver to pull it out.

Try using a more powerful magnet, either in the positive or negative side. Something should rock that out.

He already got it out, using dental floss. He was just posting about the experience.

BTW, a more powerful magnet would also magnetize the metal around the screw, I believe, and not influence the screw to leave.

For the next time you do this (and you know there will be a next time) If you have an old Hard Drive laying about their magnets are very powerful use one of those.

If you recall, my suggestion was to use cold fusion and/or reverse psychology.

Hey, now that your screwdriver set works, you can put the front sight block on facing the right way. Maybe now you won't have to police your Olympic front sight along with your empty brass.

LOL! And he means it too~ but its got me wondering who ya' are in "real life" as we mighta been shooting right next to each other!!!!! I'm the guy that always beats HPS (J/K but we'll see by next match....)

But yea- I woulda said High energy mass transfer through centrifical force (Shake the dang thing out!!!!!!! )

But hey, FWIW, we've ALL done stuff somewhat like this whether the rest of these peeps will admit it or not~ LOL! ((Be nice....Flame suit on ))

Place your bets people! Runtagua has faith in the centrifugal force method. Now I just need to find a similar screw to fit in there. I don't think I like the possiblity of sending a sight block screw off a 40X into orbit, in case it does work. But I don't think it will, that magnet's got a more oomph than you think.
