Absolutely ~ I legally carried a G17, with a S&W J-Frame for 5 years in AZ, carrying saved me twice from becoming the victim in 2 felony attempts.

If someone was there to shoot this coward, lives would have been saved.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to be there either but I can't help but think what would happen if some dork like this stumbled upon a family outing to the mall - if it's our family, he'd be dealing with at least 5 armed and reasonably proficient men that I'm relatively sure didn't factor into his plans.

having said that i believe to carry one should be proficient in gun handling, target acquisition, clearing jams, etc.
and KNOW the local laws.

In a CNN article, it said that the gunman entered the mall without his rifle and checked that place out, making sure customer present are relatively easy victims before re-entering and opening fire.

I would think that someone who is armed and saw a alone middle eastern looking guy checking him out would stare back, that might have given him the hint that some victims might shoot back.

This reminds me, I have to pick up my in-laws in Hayward tonight and drive them to the airport. I can't legally CCW and certainly not in the airport but I'll have my Beretta Px4 in the car.

How awesome would it have been if the first time he pointed that rifle at someone, 5 other customers opened fire on the POS. THIS is the only way these killings will stop.
