Moved without thinking about my firearms

So I bought a house, and at the center of the community they built an elementary school. I haven't checked exactly how close my house is to it, but I'd guess under half a mile. It's too late to back out now. Are there any laws regarding transportation of firearms near schools? I asked for the actual school zone but I obviously didn't tell them why I wanted to know. Supposedly my house is outside of it and so is the street but until they can open the back road my only way in or out of the community is by the school.

You should be alright as long as you're outside of 1000ft:

California's "Gun-Free School Zone Act"
Penal Code 626.9 PC

An area is a "school zone" if it is within 1,000 feet of public or private school grounds.

And even if you're within the 1000ft the law says this this is a exception:

- Within a place of residence or place of business or on private property, if that location is not part of the school grounds and the possession of the firearm is otherwise lawful

IANAL but your house is not a school zone, even if it is located within a 1000ft of one. I believe you are also permitted to carry your bagged or legally carried (CCW) guns to your car and back to the house.

Now if you walk outside with a gun visible expect SWAT to be outside your door a few minutes later.

Everything empty (of course) and in locking containers for school zones, starting at your front door.
That includes from your front door to your car parked in a publicly accessible area such as a driveway, yard or on the street.

Haha neighborhood is great. Yea as a matter of policy I never make firearms visible outside the house and load them into my car in my closed garage. I just didn't know if I could get in trouble even driving with them in my car while passing by the school. I think until the back road is opened up, and this is probably in excess but I don't want to become a test case, I'm gonna go the extra mile and disassemble the firearms while transporting if I am ever going to the range.

All the law requires is a locked case. Just like the usual transport for handguns, except the GFSZ includes long guns also. In most cities it is difficult to not pass within 1000 feet of a school, so just proceed as normal.

Disassembling only changes the usefulness of a firearm, it does nothing to negate possession.

Yes, I am aware that I don't have to take it that far. However, it takes about a whole 30 seconds to reassemble whatever I am taking to the range, and I'd rather do that then have to waste time trying to convince a judge who assumed the worse rather than I was just minding my own business.

Wow, you are really concerned about this. I drop my son off at his school all the time with the back seat of my truck loaded for the range. I know it's a state law and all, but really depends on where you live.

Brown guy. No kids. Passing through a school zone with rifles and ammo. Does anyone not see how this could make a really bad headline if I got pulled over for something?
The original post was in regards to transporting properly since I want to be extra cautious being near a school not to accidentally break the law. The rest is my paranoia that the doj would seize any opportunity to demonize gun owners even over a simple mistake. I just don't see the harm in using a bit of extra caution at this point. The back road will be done in 6 months and then it will be business as usual. So that's maybe two range trips where I really will worry
