As the thread title, and screen name state, I need some direction please.
I recently made my first purchase from a local dealer. With the new ban coming into effect Jan 1, it was finally time to get an AR. I've shot more times than I can count, having friends who own many. So the very basics are known. But that's about as far as it goes for me. What I'm looking for is some classes to take in the Ventura County area. Things that will teach me the local laws, how to care for my rifle, good places to go and practice, etc.
I've done a little bit of reading here, but I honestly don't even know what to search for. That's how green I am. I know "don't put your finger on the trigger until you're ready to shoot, know what's behind your target, don't shoot anything you aren't willing to destroy" etc. Stuff you'd tell a kid if you took them to the range for the first time.
I plan on going back at the beginning of next month and getting a few more lowers, since that's the part that get registered (correct?), and building them when I feel my skill level and knowledge are where they need to be before attempting it.
Thanks for any input. Links are great so you don't have to go into some long winded explanation.
I know I'll probably get asked, so the gun I purchased was a S&W M&P15T.
