    Suggestions on hearing protection?

I did a search but didn't find anything, if there's a thread already I apologize. I'm going to be doing the Monday night shooting league at Reed's so its worth it to me to get something good.

Should I go straight to electronic? Considerations? Recommendations?

    TIA

I use foam plugs and muffs, especially at an indoor range. I tried several electronic muffs and did not like them, they seemed like they let too much of the "bang" through.
look for a high noise reduction muff.

+1 You should always double up on hearing protection in an enclosed area.

I prefer electronic ears, but I also always use them outdoors. Not sure how well they work indoors.

MSA/Sordin, With the Silicone tittie upgrade... damn fine... Indoor outdoor they are the best.

I agree, it doesnt ever hurt to double up on hearing protection considering onces its gone you can never get it back.

I use Pro Ears Dimension Plus electronic muffs (NRR 33). They just came out with the next generation of Dimension Plus Gold. They are pricey though. The only negatives of my older Pro Ears is they don't shut off automatically and the batteries tend to work loose when they are hanging on my belt. I do double plug when shooting indoors or any comped guns.

I agree on always doubling up with plugs and muffs for indoors. I do it outdoors too because it can't hurt.

For non-electronic the Peltor Ultimate 10 is NRR 30, and Big5 has a Howard Leight model that is also NRR 30 or 33, I can't remember. They are a little big for use with rifles/shotguns though, so I have a thinner set of Howard Leights also from Big5 for rifles.

Its a requirement in loud enclosed areas imho, learned this working in engine rooms.

I use foam plugs + Peltor Tac-6's and it works great both indoor and outdoors. If you can afford them, I second 4thseal's recommendation of the MSA/Sordins.

I really like my Peltor Tac-6's also. It took me a while to get used to them especially after switching from foam plugs.
