Need suggestions on how to store guns for move in safe

I will be moving cross country in December or January. I will not be able to fit my long guns in my car and have decided to ship them with my other belongings in my safe. I'm looking on suggestions on the best way to store them in the safe so they don't get damaged. Most of my cases are hard and wouldn't fit inside. I was thinking of bubble-wrapping them? I am using rifle rods currently but doubt they would keep the rifles stationary in the move.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Bubble wrap would work. I'd put them in a http://www.borestores.com first though.

^ Yup, I would wrap each tightly, then pack the spaces between them so nothing can move around.

Good idea and maybe tape the bunch together after bubble wrapping them.

I have some silicone socks. Would that work in place of purchasing the bore store soft cases?

Taping them together after bubble wrapping them is a fantastic idea. Not sure what I should pack the spaces with...newspaper maybe?

Bore stores or big towels from Costco. Then tape two or three together. Lots of bubble wrap as filler.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.

Wrap in bubble wrap then sandwich in cardboard. The muzzle and pointy bits will puncture bubble wrap as it moves. Or sandwich in cardboard the bubble wrap.

Just lay the safe on its back, fill 1/3 of the way with styrofoam peanuts, put the rifles in the safe, and fill the remainder of the open space with more peanuts. Sit on the door, if needed, to get it locked up.

Then, video the opening of the safe when you get where you're going, and post to CalGuns.

Toss in a bunch of those moisture absorption packs, or buy a big vat and make your own. Probably not a huge deal for the short period of time, but ....

When I moved here from Texas, I had most of my rifles wrapped in towels inside of my crappy little Sentry Safe gun cabinet. Those towels worked great but bubble wrap and cardboard would probably be better if you plan on driving like a maniac or anything like that.

Check if the moving company will move a safe, some will not. Also some will require the safe to be empty. I just found out about this myself.

If you find you can't transport your safe packed, rent a Uhaul trailer and transport them yourself.
