If buying an AR that one wants before the new law in 2017, does the DROS needs to be started on the 20th of December or as long as its started before the 31st its ok?

You think Wednesday 12/21 is going to have some crazy sales or what do yuou guys think most gun stores will do with the extra inventory at this point? Sell it out of state?

Depends on the election results. When (as I would bet) Clinton takes this election, you won't find anything on the shelves by the end of December. If not, in CA, the last minute shoppers will clean out what is left before the end of the year as many shops quickly sell out each week already and its only going to get worse as the end of the year draws closer. JMHO

I'd imagine they'd just convert it to featureless and continue to sell it.

It may just be a marketing ploy, but gun stores are not mentioning the featureless option. Every store I have been in lately is telling all customers this is your last shot at these rifles.
