    Outdoor Shooting In Nor Cal

Does anyone know of an outdoor place to shoot within reasonable distance from San Francisco? I'm not talking about an outdoor range but more of a free public place to shoot.

There is this place in Santa Barbra, in the mountains where you could bring what ever you wanted to shoot. People would bring things ranging from bottles to fruit to refrigerators. Is there anything like that around here?

try Cow mountain east of Ukiah, has a unsupervised rifle range out to 3-400 yards. local BLM office in Ukiah can provide maps, etc. or do a google search.

Try Circle S out past the Coast Guard station.

I hope youre not looking for a place to shot up and leave more reasons to close BLM land for shooters.

I know that I, and i'm sure the OP, has every intention of leaving any place we go to shoot in a better condition than when we found it.

Of Course.. I'm not destroying anything. I'll guarantee that. I think it's allowed at the place in Santa Barbara because there was always stuff up there people would leave and TONS n TONS of shells on the ground but if it's not like that at these places I obviously will NOT do it there. I only brought that up because it seemed like it was okay to do that there. You'd see everyone there bringing something up there to shoot, excluding paper targets!

What does BML stand for and what is BML land?

What about the North Los Padres National Forest just south of Monterey? Any good?

You can haul your crap out to shoot up but don't leave it behind. Just because an area is littered with junk doesn't give you permission to do the same. You should always haul out more trash than you bring with you, this includes spent shells/casings.
