    Gun age question

I know there is a shotgun forum but this forum gets a little more attention, can anyone shed some light on how old my mossberg 500AR s/n: 55148 is?
    Yes that's the full s/n

    Thank you all!

    Should have a letter prefix

We are getting together a Mossberg serial number data base. I know there are a lot of members wanting to know the date of their Mossberg's without the hassle of calling Mossberg or Havlin. We need member input for this to work. We are asking for the first few digits of you serial #...

    Could be early 1968.

Yah I found on ar15.com the earliest s/n they have listed is at 64681 from 1968. But nothing earlier.

It would have to be from '68 then.

Prior to 1968 they were not serialized.
Perhaps they used the same serial number series for all models, not just the 500.

I emailed Mossberg and they told me the year my shotgun was built.
