"BREAKING: Ruger LCP II – Better Sights, Stippling & Trigger"

I know this doesn't really apply to most of us here in California unless you're exempt ...
but it's still some "new gun / modified gun design " news from Ruger.

I had thought about picking up one of the Keltec P32 or P3AT models but when Ruger cloned their design I thought the Ruger might be a better long-term and possibly more reliable choice, if it's roughly the same size and weight, but now there's a new version (and I even think they've had a modified trigger version before this one).

I guess the today's question to all Calgunners is ..

if you were picking one of these BELOW 9 mm semi auto pocket pistols, which one would it be a Keltec .380

Or .32 ( which usually gives you an extra round or two per magazine)

Or which one of the .380 Ruger models?

I'd get the new Ruger if I could and if I didn't have a Kahr.

^I have to agree with you crufflers.

I feel this is the design Ruger should've come out with to start which would've made it more different then the Keltec they were getting inspired from.

I might wait a little bit for a internal laser modded model.

but this would be my pick of the bunch.

I have a P238. So even if the new Ruger was on the roster, I'd pass on it.

They're basically try to make the LCP look like the Ruger American pistol.

The KT P32 is smaller than the.380s, more than slight difference in overall measurements would lead you to believe.
The slide is tapered and beveled at the top, grip is smaller, every dimension is slightly less when you compare them side by side.

A true pocket pistol is a unique design.
It should be safe in the pocket all by itself.
It should be able to fire just by pulling the trigger.
It should have a smooth profile everywhere that won't snag during the draw.
Think DAO guns like the KTs, Kahrs, early and mid LCP, etc.

Adding taller sights, slide serrations, laser modules, and other goodies that are better for when the gun is already in hand makes for a slightly different concept.
We are adding features for more accurate long range shooting when the usual purpose of a pocket pistol is arms length use or not much more.
Going to a Safety In Trigger (SIT) design means that some sort of trigger protection devise must be used.
This could be a holster or one of those clip on trigger guards.
Some or all of the above adds to the carried gun size, which can mean the pocket pistol no longer fits in the pocket.
Once we move to the waistband or ankle holster then we are not talking pocket pistols anymore.

The LCP2 has its niche, hopefully the original design will still be offered.

^ Ojisan, I agree with everything you stated with my personal exception of I would prefer having a laser on any pocket pistol, especially if it's coming from the factory, is the same thinness and doesn't have any edges to snag.

it doesn't add a significant amount of weight which is a concern when you're carrying something all the time and if you are minimalize your sights to make them snag free I feel it's worthwhile upgrade.

i want one. need to replace this hand biter of a pistol. I dont mind that part much. its concealable but heavier than a fully load g19
