    OLL build #2 411 needed

I'm finally starting to put my second build on the table after a long money crunch. But..... dont know if i want another .223/5.56. Now i need info regarding the type of AR i can put together with my second lower. I heard i can make it into a .22 or 9mm, but can i make build it to shoot a 7.62x39????? or something a little bigger than a .223???

Thanks for being the best part of CG.

well, there is a 7.62x39 upper out there. I know Impacto has one that he seems to like. also, there is one for the 5.45 round that seems to be popular, but those rounds use corrosive primers, so a good cleaning ritual will be a must.

There's a huge list over at AR15.com of the calibers that you can use for AR-15's. 5.45x39 would be awesome because the ammo's so cheap, but IIRC, all 5.45x39 rounds have a steel core by design. And seeing as how you're in SoCal...

7.62x39 or 7.62x51 would be nice options that I'd consider.

              7.62x51 requires a dedicated AR10 lower.

Thanks guys. I knew i could count on you. But i think i will visit AR15.com and check some things out. For now, I think im kinda liking the way the 7.62x39 round is sounding. I think its the closest i can get to a .308 with out trying to build a AR10. Please correct me if im wrong on that. Thanks again.

                    7.62x39

If you go the 7.62x39 route, I just saw one at a gun store in San Gabriel, CA for $1200.00 supposedly made by Colt.

I am having the same delima, what to build next. I am considering 6.8, .308, 7.62x39, and 6.5 just going to have to do some serious research.

                        Is this not true (usually)?

                        AR-15 = .223
                        AR-10 = .308

ripcurlksm Yes and no. I think.......?? I dont know if the AR15 is JUST known for the .223 round and the same for the AR10's with the .308 round.

                            "Is this not true (usually)?"

                            AR-15 = .223
                            AR-10 = .308

All i know is that im really confused right now!!! To further my confusion, My buddy said, " why dont you just build an AK or a FAL??" OOhhh i wish i had money to just buy all these wonderful toys.
