    SD Sherriff Shooting Map

I found this shooting map straight from the SD Sherriff website which is a lot easier to read than the BLM ones. According to the map and it's page 1, all white areas are ok to shoot if a safe distance from certain areas or from public places.

Is this true or is this map not telling me the whole picture? Seems to good to be true.

You should cross reference with blm maps anyway. It isn't telling you the whole picture. When you cross reference with BLM maps, you'll get a much bigger picture and understanding.

I figured but to someone who doesn't know to do that, I could see how this map is a tid bit misleading.

What is this map? Effective would mean it's still in use especially since it's still living directly on their webpage would it not?

Or, it could not have updated since 2-6-14 and a lot of things have changed since then.

According to that map one can shoot in Del Mar. I got a feeling that's not exactly correct.

Wrong. Read the page right below the map GRAY "Not Allowed"

White is "County Regulated Shooting" area. Requires only that you be a reasonably safe distance from certain areas to discharge a firearm or airgun. You also cannot discharge during "high fire hazard" periods.

Geez, how hard would it have been to put that in the legend?

Thanks! I was planning on heading into Del Mar to shoot this weekend. Probably would have upset a few people.

That is in the legend, page 2

That's a great map, I wish other countys would do something like that, cross referencing with a BLM map is a good idea, but it's a good place to start. I like how the county shooting regulations are included as well.

Besides the fact that we're in California, the patchwork of local regulations makes finding a place to shoot, other than commercial ranges a bit problematic.

Are you sure that isn't a map of future BLM shooting locations.

We already have the only reasonable Gun Control we need, It's called the Second Amendment and it's the government it controls.

It's a trap. SDSD can cite you in many of those areas. The drought has banned all the BLM areas here in SD County too.

How is it a trap? All areas on BLM land in Socal are closed?

In the '70s we used to shoot in Carmel Valley about two miles east of Del Mar when the only thing there was the Evergreen nursery. Out side city limits, private land and the ranch owner did mind until some dip s#@$ shot one of his cows.

Now the roads are paved and area is all built up with over priced homes. Good things rarely last.

One of the joys of living in Valley Center is being able to shoot on our private properties. Been confirmed by local SDSO too
