Just Move to Sonora Ca

hello Everyone i just move to Sonora Recently and I'm looking for areas to shoot my AR-15 and Shotgun. I know Cherry hill have an area but not sure if i can shoot there or not. Any suggestion will help. I just build my AR so i wanted to try it out some where.-thanks all

Lots of places up that way.

I'd suggest you head to a ranger station and pick up a topo map. Then you are aware of the boundaries of the wilderness refuge area. Avoid that

For that matter most of those rangers up in those woods are stand up, ask them where all the spots are.

Have you found 'The Sportsman' in downtown yet?

If not, you will.

We have a cabin in Confidence(about ten miles up the hill) and just find areas in the NF just about everywhere up there.

yeah i live 2 minutes a way from the sportman in downtown. i was in there yesterday looking for some sight for my gun. i go to shop today and ask. thansk

Is it hunting season in that area?

And I ask that because people here at work are going to a friends cabin in Arnold and he mentioned trying to find an area to shoot so as to not piss off the hunters.

You can do some outdoor shooting at the end of French Flat Rd. near Jamestown, the old quarry on Camp 9 Rd. in Calaveras County (off of Parrotts Ferry Rd.), Candy Rock Quarry in Calaveras County (off of Highway 4 near Hathaway Pines) and at the old quarry on Sawmill Mountain (off of Highway 120 about 18 miles east of Groveland).

I have heard that there is a shooting spot near Twain Harte, but I am not sure where it is.

Cedar Ridge Area- Keltz Mine Rd about 500 yards inside the forest gate. Mt Elizabeth fire road, inbetween the two forest gates, can't miss it! Get a map at the ranger station on Greenley across from the library.

heads up on Lizzie, there is a local resident that likes to harass people shooting there, red-head rides a dirtbike, video any interaction with him. word is he made a false assault claim against someone out there already. I believe he has also been blocking the fire road, if you have any interactions with him call the Sheriffs Office. Also, if you notice the road blocked call the Forest Service. It seems like kind of a pain, but it is an excellent spot, just don't shoot too high cause the fire tower is on the other side of the mountain. Feel free to PM me, I live in the area.
