Another vote for 1911forum. There's a lot of knowledge there and it's pretty serious business there too. The mods don't put up with anyone that gets out of line. The Marketplace also has some good deals to be found, you just need to be quick.

Not as good as the other site, but another place to look. Their "bargain hunter" section is a good place for 1911 deals to be found as the guys post up good deals they see.

The two mentioned are great, the one to stay far away from is M1911.org. Small group of long time members, not looking for any input from new members. You are not allowed an opinion that differs from their, no matter how slight.

1911forums is great for all things 1911. A lot of very good smiths, shooters and balanced opinions there. A lot of these guys run their 1911's HARD! Not unusual to see 20k - 30k round semi custom guns. A lot of nicely worn guns and pics too.

Another is 1911pro. Mostly smithing there IIRC.
