I had a student ask me what f hashtag m (f#m) meant on a jazz standard.

I think I hurt his feelings when I laughed out loud and told him it meant "f sharp minor".

I cant get used to "color" in a firearm description.

When i started out in the early 1980s, there was blued, parkerized, and stainless. Sure, ARs were anodized, but they were anodized dark gray.

Very few autos were staineless, automags, wildeys, AMT, and most had galling issues until they worked it out. Mini 14s could be had in stainless, and some marine versions of shotguns.

Now we have FDE, sand colored, even pink and tiffany blue, whatever. Dont get me wrong, paint it any color you want, its yours.

But i see guys saying "black" when they mean blued or park'd.

When i started out, if you didnt like how a firearm felt or shot, you either sold it or you learned to work around that LONG Da sig pull, for example. I shot my 226 and decocked it every round until i could put the first shot where i wanted it.

Now its sky is the limit customization.

Ill never understand the $2000 glock upgrades, though.
