They probably make much more money in a market without competitors (Pmags, MOE handguard etc) than in one that are many many players.... we know that Magpul is famous for making good stuff, rather than the cheapest stuff...

Also, their insurance issue.... (as told by a Magpul rep on arfcom)

      Another die hard magpul fanboy.
My ex spent $1200 on a purse that I saw for $15 dollars and 2 for $25 at the flee market. My argument was it had the same amount of pockets and zippers.

I love there stuff but even if I was a billionaire I just cant justify spending 3000+ on a lower. I would spend that money on a lathe and turn bullets in my basement.

I think you smoked somethin' today, Hector. The 4K on a rifle is not even near the reach for most people now. Otherwise i'd sell my SIG556. hey, you can have it for a mere 2K.

Is this really that much different than buying a dream gun that you'll never shoot?

                      Nope!

I say more power to the buyer. We don't know his motivations, nor his income, so there's not much we can speculate on. We can say he's crazy or whatever, but who's to say that's true?

He got something that very few people have or will ever be able to have. That's pretty rad, in my opinion.

Hell, something like a Magpul lower will probably only ever go up in value. Didn't you think that maybe he bought it as an investment?

Rare firearms almost ALWAYS go up in value and make great investments. Even SKS's are up 50-75% from just a few years ago and they are FAR more plentiful than a Magpul AR receiver.

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.

I think people say that the seller is High because he was getting rid of such a sweet looking lower.

Its like buying a Rolex. Swiss engineering, sweet lines, gold part, people buy stuff for prestige, brand recognition and other ego enhancing reasons. Would a Timex or Casio give the time correctly? YES. Is it a Rolex? NO.

I would love to own a Magpul lower because of Magpul's fame. Would I pay $3,500? No. I cannot think on those financial terms, because I do not have the spending strength that this Durand dude has.

Back in highschool, a kid stole his dads rolex and wore it to school. He got into a fight and smashed it. He kept crying and I mean balling like a 10 year just found out his mom was an alien and begging our principle to not call his dad. He was 17/18 years old.

I love the fact that I can sit back on this and chuckle. With the exception of when the OFF list movement started, I've never paid more than $120 out the door for a lower. $260 was the price of my 1st stag when the movement started.
