Changing ammo calibers on the same gun?

In the waning days of SSE, I had the opportunity to buy an RIA 1911 that could switch between 9mm and .22 TCM, but passed it for a Dan Wesson PM9, but I've always wondered if a .22 1911 would be fun. Recently I found a great deal on a CZ75b that came with a Kadet .22lr conversion kit and the original 9mm slide.

Now, in the Centerfire Rifle forum, guys are talking about being able to switch their AR's from 5.56 to 300BO, Tavors from 5.56 to 9mm, etc.

How important to you is it to be able to switch calibers on the same gun? I tend to keep mine with the same caliber.

Its not that important to me, but it is a plus if I'm able to switch to a different caliber by simply swapping out the barrel.

      Pretty important. Few lowers, lots of uppers. One shares a 20" 5.56 and a 20" Grendel. Another a .22LR and a 14.5" 5.56.

If it's easy to do, why not. My carbine came as a 9mm with a .41AE barrel and magazine included. Over the years I collected the parts to convert it 45ACP as well as 22LR.

It's not bad to have options.

It's an Uzi, right? Where do you get a .22lr kit for it?

Get the CZ with Kadet Kit. It's a great gun combo. I ended up selling my .22lr Buckmark after getting it.

It's important for politically incorrect guns, because once Sacramento legislates a modern sporting gun into an "assault weapon" you can't legally buy another.

If I want a .300 Blackout AR for pig hunting or 9mm Tavor for indoor use with magazines that detach without disassembly as of 1-1-2017 I can still get one by converting what I already own. With a conversion I can even have a .50 BMG with better ammo availability than .510 DTC EUROP.

It's not important for handguns - I don't need to convert my .40 off-roster pistols to 9mm for use in indoor ranges, or to .45 so they're suitable for a different gun sport event. If I want an off-roster gun I already own in a different caliber there's no law saying I can't buy it from a private party. Handgun price tags make spares more affordable - an extra $500 handgun doesn't dent your budget like another $2000 rifle. Safe space is also less of an issue for pistols.

Markell's back when they were on Judah. They were selling all their Action Arms accessories for cheap prior to moving.
