Livermore Range is a joke

No planning department within the bay area will ever approve a new outdoor range. Never.

And I doubt existing ones would ever be allowed to expand.

That sucks. My friend wanted to open an outdoor range.

Sounds like Livermore has finished their changes on the range. The 25-yard berm is gone. We will see how it works out. The rumor mill has some really unpopular changes coming down as far as range rules.

It sounds like shooting from benches 1-30 will be restricted to 25 yard and out. I heard you can only shoot from the bench. Sounds like a great deal for all the rifle bench shooters. Sounds like a big clusterf@#$ for the handgun shooters and anyone wanting to shoot long-guns off hand. We will see how it works out.

The good news is they are trying do something to accommodate the additional demand caused by the closure of USI and Chabot.

We should start getting the full scoop when they open up tomorrow for business.

With all the additional shooters,, maybe livermore can re-open the 30 benchs to the left side of the range house... That would be a great first fix to the overcrowding problem.. As to the rapid fire at night,, I hope they haven't reopened the police range... The very reason the rifle-pistol range was closed for 3 years and had to be rebuilt,,, unjustifiably... Hope it all works out for the east bay area,, livermore was a great range.. Cheers.

The Livermore range is very nice and functions well. The problem is that people like going there and its usually very busy. Become a member and learn the in's and out's.

They did. The 12 lanes on the left side are pistol only. Adds to the 30 on the right.

29 Lane Rifle-Pistol Range

The berms have been removed
The target stands at 10 yards have been removed
The target stands at 35 yards have been removed
The minimum shooting distance is now 25 yards
Portable target stands will no longer be allowed on the 29 lane range
Shooters will use
* 5ft stands at 50yards and 100 yards
* 7ft stands at 25 yards
This is being done so all bullets will hit the 100 yd berm (hillside ) and not deflect upwards
Shooters MUST be SITTING to shoot rifles and pistols on the 29 lane rifle-pistol range
You can no longer stand and shoot on this range
You can shoot ALL accepted calibers on the 29 lane range (no 50BMG!)


11 Lane Pistol Only Range

Currently there are target stands at 30 feet (10 yards) and 50 feet.
On this range we allow all pistol calibers but do not allow magnum loads.
You must be standing to shoot on the Pistol Only range.
This is required to comply with the ‘no-blue sky’ rule.

That is a common rumor but is simply not known or provable.

One person explained to me that they knew it is the fault of the police range because the bullets found on the neighboring property were jacketed and nobody else shoots jacketed bullets . . . oh really?!?!?

You can shoot pistol standing at 10-yard and 16.6-yard (50-foot) targets. If you want to shoot 25-yard targets with a handgun (or with magnum loads) you have to shoot sitting. At least that is how I read it.

If you click the link to the new rules they allow you to leave a comment, so let me know they tarded the range. I have stopped going and have been forced easterly, but it's better than retarded rules and the crowds of newbs.

I know they put a lot of time, money, and effort into setting up the range for lighting the targets. Is this still in place and usable with the new range configuration? Or is all night shooting done on that range?
