Sometimes folks have listening issues or can't follow simple rules.

Things like, stay away from the bench when target checking. Simple but every target change someone has to grab something off the bench.

Then there was the time a guy pulled his rifle off the bench, muzzle pointed at everyone during target change.

Yes there is alot of yelling but some folks just can't follow rules.

This is one of the main reasons I took my son shooting at Chabot.
They encouraged me to help my son. I appreciated that.
But they also enforced their rules to keep everyone safe.
I would like to think that those that were yelled at didn't make those mistakes again.

Lol, nope . Seems to be the same guys or group. Or rather my observations. I'm not innocent, been told a few times about picking up only my own brass. Not gonna lie I usually bring back more than I've shot. Most folks shooting pistol and ar or ak never pick up their brass.
Ones trash is another's jewels.

When I was first working at Coyote Point Rifle and Pistol Range there was no Chabot. I recall one fine day some Chabot folks showed up to examine how things were done at Coyote Point. Some time later my shooting friend and I tried Chabot, in the days before the firing lines were covered, and found it enjoyable except that we roasted in the sun. So each of us picked up a clamp-on beach umbrella to shade our rifle bench. Spent a lot of time working up loads for varmint hunting.

Then I was promoted and transferred out of Coyote Point. No longer able to shoot before work, being limited to crowded weekends, I switched to Chabot. Then they built the shed roofs to reduce the noise, and I put away the umbrella. On the weekends Chabot had a snack bar that offered hot food, coffee and drinks, but somewhere along the line that was replaced by the vending machine kiosk. I was into IHMSA handgun silhouette competition by then and spent many hours developing loads and sighting in. Worked up loads for some weird cartridges, including the .357 Maximum, and .375 Super Mag, 7mm International Rimmed and others. In 1994 I worked up loads for the new Ruger Super Redhawk in .480 Ruger, and shortly for a Reeder Custom 5 shot Ruger Blackhawk conversion to the .480 Ruger. This proved to be one of the most consistently accurate cartridges I ever worked with. In fact my loads duplicated those of John Taffin within a few feet per second for each bullet. Taffin did his testing in Idaho, and me at Chabot, and still the results were almost identical.

Well, I'll miss Chabot, a victim of operating a range on leased property. Coyote Point almost closed before the Sheriff's Office saved it, and the club continued to operate it for the public hours. While Chabot closed, Coyote Point recently received a private donation of $5 million, and the county immediately approved plans for a new indoor range and expanded operation, including more public use. Who would have thought?

I've shot at chabot many times.. Keeping my eye on my young son,,, and the non-english speakers wore me out sometimes.. Cease fire ect. ,,,, is a simple english language command,, but no habla senior...
I switched ranges to Livermore Rod and Gun,, and watched it slowly devolve... A good range with crappy management and leadership..

My libtard neice lives in Castro Valley (where my business was located for 25 years) ,,, and she always complained about the noise from the range when her family was picnicing by the lake.. Her and her ilk are very happy now,,, for their once a year picnic... I'm so glad I got out of the s'''hole of Alameda County,, and took my double taxed (business and personal) income dollars with me.. Go Raiders--- oh ya forgot.. Retard Alameda County stupidvisors,, paid the traitors 30 million per year to stay... And then traitors left... Again.. But they Just can't stand a self-supporting gun range.. Keep voting demoncrat ftards... More whiney bs to come.. Chabot was a very nice outdoor range,, sorry to see it go... I guess 1.5 million east bay residents can just 🏄🏿⛷ now..... Cheers..

Took a basic safety class there. It really was a wonderful environment for learning.

Taught all three of my kids to shoot at Chabot. Did a range trip for the guys on the day of his bride-to-be's birdal shower. When we got back they all wished they went with us. Enjoyed taking off a Monday or Friday and heading out to Chabot. Really liked going there and will miss it.
