Rifle fell, lost zero on scope

It happened the night before a CMP match. I was packing up and I had the rifle leaning against a wall. It slid and landed on its side. Didn't look like much, I peered into the scoop and it was fine.

At the match, sighting in, I'm 20 inches off. Thank God my spotter was a pro. I gave him the data on my clicks at 200, he called it, I put it in and I was spot on.

So here is my question, I am using an Aero Precision ultra light scope mount. The scope looks fine and was holding after I adjusted. Did my scope adjust from the fall, or did the mount? I would've thought that either the mount or the scope would hold zero on a minor fall to a wood floor.

Scrap the mount? Expect to lose zero on anything more than a light bump? What say you?

Follow up shots were on point as well?

I ask just in case your scope or mount got loose.

What kind of scope are you using? Pretty bad for a scope to drop zero just by dropping it. Recoil is sometimes much more punishing on a scope than a simple fall.

It probably fell on carpet, right?

In all seriousness though, I'd invest in a beefier mount if a fall caused it to lose zero.

If it held the zero for the remaining 49 shots, good enough I guess. Although 10 MOA is a lot of movement.

It held zero through out the match.

Ive had a similar issue with a mount settling into the upper, but not due to a fall, more from checking torque.

I wonder.

It's possible that the mount shifted. I use the beefy-ist mounts I can find for target rifles, steel if they are available, I can't afford to drop any points or the day is over. I use a Vortex one piece on my Service rifle, very beefy.

I switched to a Warne skel mount for that exact reason...

I've dropped my Vortex PST with Aero Precision mount onto concrete pad from bench. Held zero no problem. The mount or scope didn't take the fall though.

Good thing that the Pelican case your rifle was in when it tipped over it hit the carpet instead of the damaging a hard floor surface.

This is what I'm afraid of with the aero mount. Since the lightweight is a selling point, that strength is lower vs comparable mounts. Guess this means I'll be making sure mine doesn't fall down onto a hard surface
