    True meaning of Molon Labe

This thread will get some spam replies but oh well.

Come and take is the original meaning said by a unit ready to die for their homeland.

I see it on apparel and gear now and I've done it myself. But the meaning now is more literal, almost an invitation, for gov't to come and take as they did in LA after Katrina.

If cops/troops molon to labe guns, are people going to risk livelihood, arrest, or life to hold on? Most won't. Seasonal workers might.

I thought CA's efforts were silly and useless a decade ago due to the availability of workarounds such as SSE, BB. But now the frog has been cooked. Some owners I talked to about petitions kept putting it off for frivolous reasons. Politicians spend their days tightening the screws while the general public, including many gun owners, remains apathetic.

With the trend toward fewer and fewer options, it's probably not an issue to foresee general confiscation at some point after a shooting. Their reasoning will be that since you can't buy new ones, confiscating existing ones would reduce gun crime. That's what prevents me from stocking up too much, aside from the rapidly closing window of 30 day periods till the end of the year.

I'm pretty sure that nobody that sports "molon labe" means it as an invitation to disarmament.

"Come and receive them" is the general sense of the ancient Greek, with the Persians to "receive" the weapons point first, in the gut.

So "Come and take them" or "Come and get them" is equivalent and proper, along with the un-said "and see what happens, buddy".

"Molon labe" as the answer King Leonidas of Sparta gave to the Persian emissary demanding the 300 lay down their arms. It is one of the two actual quotes in the History.

(The other quote came after the Persians said that their arrows would be so thick as to blot out the sun. A Spartan trooper said: "Good! Then we'll fight in the shade.")

Historically, most revolutionaries in any civil war are mostly the downtrodden with little to lose. So there is some merit in asking if many of us will put our money where our mouths are, so to speak.

But... Life gets worse and worse every year for people who work hard and pay taxes in this country. And especially in this state. So I imagine the number who would stand up for their beliefs will continue to increase as things get worse and worse. And as things get that bad, more and more of us will be forced to make these decisions.

All it'll take is one overly excessive raid gone wrong with a video that goes viral for a lot of us will come off the fence, even if the gestapo haven't visited our door yet. But ya, I'd venture that most gun owners aren't willing to fight and die for their rights. but a lot are and like I said, I only see that number growing as our message becomes more popular due to the socialists inevitable next steps.
Unless we keep the barbarian virtues, gaining the civilized ones will be of little avail. Oversentimentality, oversoftness, washiness, and mushiness are the great dangers of this age and of this people." Teddy Roosevelt

When it comes to the point of them taking our guns, or trying to, we will have everything to lose. At that time, for me at least, it's all or nothing.

Everyone on Calguns keeps talking about TDS. I never knew we had so many fish keepers!

The TDS on my 10gallon tanks 110ppm
The TDS on my 29 gallon tank is 150ppm (due to substrate)

$64,000 question - Who wins in this scenario?
                        Depends.

If you look at it one way, I win. I die defending my rights, and they succumbed to the temptation to kill me. Proving that both of us were ready to water the tree of liberty. This is if you believe that death is not the worst thing that can happen to someone.

But if you think that death is the worst, then, yes, the gov't wins. But only a temporary victory, and only over me. They may have won the battle against me, but the war against our rights goes on.

They will have a bigger problem: The more brutal they act towards the resistors, the more resentment they stir up in others.

Even though it's a line from movie, the truth is still in there:
"The more you tighten your grip, the more star systems will slip through your fingers."

Just as in the past, there will come a point when enough regular people just won't take it anymore. We have seen it throughout history. Some say that we are already headed in that direction. Others say that we are always headed in that direction: It's just a matter of time, we will arrive at that point.
That the seeds of the next revolution are planted the moment the current one ends. No gov't has ever lasted forever. Every gov't on earth replaced the one before it, in a never-ending cycle of revolution, be it peaceful or not.

It doesn't matter how scary, ugly, uncomfortable, or inconvenient self defense can be. Like it or not, you will never, ever be relieved of your duty and responsibility to defend your life, your family, your country and your freedom.

How much ammo do I need? Enough to last me the rest of my life, and then lot more for later.

The government does not come knocking at your door. It comes knocking down your door.

In today's world it means, 'mess with the bull, and you'll get the horns'.

If you are a leo would you really enter the house of a law abiding citizen to confiscate a weapon? Knowing the weapon is an ar-15,lr308 or bigger?. I don't think so.

                              I thought they already do.

Confiscation of firearms form those who are deemed mentally unfit or due to conviction is already happening and only shortages of money has slowed the confiscation.

                              Am I wrong?
