    Training Question in San Diego

Does anyone know a good place in San Diego that my DW could go for good firearms training?

She's come a long way since we got married (she isn't terrified of guns anymore), but won't go to a range without me and I just don't have the time to go to the range that often lately. I have taught her quite a bit, but since I'm not a Firearms Instructor I feel like she needs a little more that what I can offer. Especially to go beyond the basics. She has expressed an interest in getting her Handgun Safety Certificate and in taking firearms training classes, though she would prefer (at least in the beginning) ones that are geared towards women.

Anyone have any recommendations? I hear Project 2000 holds classes, but I'm not real familiar with that facility.

"Who are the militia? Are they not ourselves? Is it feared, then, that we shall turn our arms each man against his own bosom. Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birthright of every American... (T)he unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either federal or state governments, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people."

The local NRA council has Women On Target clinics. Here's the link for more info:

      Dirt Sailor -

Project 2000 is where I shoot. It is a great facility and very friendly, the prices are reasonable. I think it would be a great place for your wife to shoot because project 2000 has females on staff that know what they are doing and talking about. I enjoy project 2000 more than the other places I have been to in San Diego.

        D-sailor,

American Shooting Center has a couple of really good instructors.. The Bridgeman's (sp?) (father/son team) have been shooting and teaching for quite some time. Having taken a class with them, I have no hesitation giving them my recommendation. They have business cards located at the ASC rental counter with their contact information.

Both of the Bridgeman's are very professional and very competent. Dave has been instructing for quite some time and has a lot of experience (retired LEO) teaching both male and female students. Joe is a Nationally recognized IPSC competitor. I've spoken to both of them and they can offer anything from basic handgunning to self defense to competition skills.

Give them a call and see if the curriculum is in line with what you and your DW find agreeable. I've seen firsthand the before/after results with the students and its very impressive what kind of difference the instruction has made. They definitely know how to teach.
