Magazines - Keep Filled or Not?

All filled, dust covers on the pmags, stacked in boxes at the back of the safe. You have to store them somewhere, and you have to store the ammo somewhere. It makes sense to combine the space and store them loaded. I'll check them every several years to see how they're holding up, but I do not expect any issues. Also, you don't want to be loading mags when the zombie horde is crashing down your door.

I keep a few available unpacked for each rifle, a handful of empties around for practicing reloading drills.

Maybe I'm being really paranoid. I keep only a few magazines around. All the rest of them are disassembled and bagged. I don't like the idea of leaving them fully compressed all the time. Maybe I'm wrong. I only keep a few ready to go. If I need more than three mags, I've got bigger problems

So, just to be clear, don't clean the magazines (this is suggested in so many owner's manuals) because this does more damage than necessary?

clean mags as needed and finish with clean dry rag. i suggest you not use a lubricating agent/oil to clean mags because of potential for accumulation and retention of dust, gunk/debris.
