American Eagle polymer coated range ammo

I read a feature about this new polymer bullet which is designed to produce less heat, less recoil, and less need for cleaning for range use. It's also designed to be safer for shooting at metal targets. Has anyone tried this stuff yet? Not sure I could justify the expense.

Looks just like the pretty red lipstick bullets that Stilly makes.

Been around a long time as a DIY. Now this outfit wants to claim credit for an "innovation".

Yup, certainly looks like a powder coated lead bullet. People have been doing this in their garage for years as a cost saving measure (i.e. shooting cheap cast bullets without the additional aggravation of having to lube said bullets).

Powder coating lead boolits are the bees knees for reloaders. Glad my buddy told me about it when I started casting. He was interested in it too but was afraid that PC would harm is barrels. Not an issue!

Wouldn't this just replace copper fouling with polymer fouling?

Its been around for a long time. Its just Hi-Tek coating, reloaders have been using it for many years.

The cross section looks far too thick, and the coating looks far too 'substantial' to be hi-tek IMO. I believe it to be powder coat.

One of the claims of hi-tek is that the coating is microns thick, that cross section shows something quite a bit thicker.
