    pt one eleven on cops!

time for the crickets to come out

so I'm watching cops (bail me out boss #2912) they pull over someone
for not coming to a complete stop. .. they discover marijuana and a "pt one eleven" in the suspects waist band

suspect tells cop that the gun he bought gun for $200
cop asks the suspect , do you know how much these guns cost?
suspect says they normally sell for $699
cop asks do you think $200 is pretty reasonable? if someone offered me a pt111 me a cheap price like $200 i would suspect it was stolen, and they mention taurus by name
gun is discovered to be stolen

    question.
what is a pt one eleven? when i look up "pt one eleven", the prices i get are between $289 to $329? , i think $200 would be reasonable for a used PT111. of course you would have to add the dealer cost of the transfer

this was filmed in escambia county in Florida, so it wasn't an off roster markup

    So, suspect is an idiot.

    In more ways than one.

MSRP is $301.52? So maybe the perp was thinking of the "buy two, get one free" promo.

I watched that episode. That stood out to me as well. The police officer was leading him down a path so the prosecutor would have a stronger case in court.

Cop is an idiot.....PT111 has never been a $700 gun. $389-429ish all day long, brand new in the case. So a used one could easily go for $200.

I was thinking the same thing at the time, a $700 Taurus?

I saw that same episode and thought the same thing a couple weeks ago.

I've always been entertained when cops try to show their "vast & superior" knowledge when it comes to firearms - both on the "Cops" show and on the news.

Quote from a cop on "Cops" while investigating a gang shooting involving an AK: "These assault rifles are especially dangerous in that it doesn't matter what you're standing behind - a telephone pole, a tree, a brick wall....the bullet's still gonna get you because of the tremendous power in these guns." (I guess he figured that using the phrase "in that" instead of the more-simple "because" would make him sound more intelligent.)

Quote from an LAPD officer during the time the department was considering issuing 45 Autos: (one of my favorites) "This is a good idea because when a suspect is hit with a 9mm, he just keeps fighting, but a hit with a 45, even in the hand knocks him off his feet."

Likely officer "fishing" to get perp admitting to possesion, of known stolen property. It's all about "intent".

I got no issues with fishing expedition questions. Perp doesn't have to incriminate himself. But many, choose to do just that.

If you can shoot through a phone pole with a .223, I'll buy you a free beer.

Not surprised. An FBI agent I know was talking about how you don't have to aim with a 12 gauge.. they just use slugs
